A TRUTHFUL APPROACH TO AUDITIONS
I approach the coaching session from a very basic sincere starting point. I collaborate with the actor/actress and together we create the world of the character. We play around with different ideas that come organic to the actor. We try different intentions and different choices until one feels just right.
My goal with the coaching session is to have the actor/actress leave our session feeling empowered and with a solid foundation and understanding of the world they will be stepping into in the audition room.
As an actor/director myself, I have been right there in the battlefield as well. I know what is to walk into the room. What it feels like to have casting sessions, producers sessions, network testing and bookings.
Clients I have worked with have booked jobs in television, feature films, web series from independent companies to major major networks and studios.
ABOUT ME
Miguel Angel has studied with Diana Castle at the Imagined Life, Lesly Kahn Studios (Comedy), The Groundlings (Improv), Margie Haber Studios (Audition Technique), Larry Moss Studios (Scene Study), UCLA Theater and many others. Being exposed to so many teachers has given him the tools to create his own coaching style.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Theater from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television. After graduating from UCLA, he formed part of the Latino Theater Company in Los Angeles where he co-produced and wrote original theater pieces including Melancholia, which had a successful run in Los Angeles and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland where it was nominated for an Amnesty International Award.
Miguel Angel is an award winning writer/director. His latest film "Acuitzeramo" premiered at the prestigious Morelia International Film Festival in October 2019. Previously wrote, produced and directed the award winning film "Broken Sunflower Hearts" which won won several awards including Best Short, Best Actor and was nominated for 3 additional Awards including Best Screenplay. He also produced and starred in the feature film "Cry Now" and "The Invitation," which aired on the Showtime Network. He wrote and produced the PSA "Know Your Rights" for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) which became one of the most widely distributed and viewed tool for Immigrant Rights in the U.S. He has served as Associate Producer on the films "Love, Concord," "Forgiving Heart," and "Bruising For Besos."
As an actor, he has recently wrapped the leading roles for the recently released feature film "Sleeping Dogs Lie," and has worked on the upcoming American crime drama "Too Old To Die Young" starring Miles Teller for Amazon Studios. Previously he guest starred on numerous shows for NBC, CBS and FOX.
